WORLD ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE WEEK CELEBRATION

“Achimota Hospital Takes a Stand Against Antimicrobial Resistance”

From November 18th to 24th, 2024, Achimota Hospital joined the global fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by observing World Antimicrobial Resistance Week. This year’s theme, “Educate. Advocate. Act Now,” echoed throughout our hospital and beyond.

Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals took to the field, engaging with various communities within our catchment area. We shared vital information on the dangers of AMR and the importance of responsible antimicrobial use through:

– Educational talks at our Outpatient Departments (OPDs)

– Community outreach programs in Christian Village, Kisseman, and Achimota

– Interactive sessions with students at Achimota Secondary School

– Awareness campaigns with vendors and drivers at local markets.

Through these initiatives, we empowered our community with knowledge, encouraged responsible behavior, and promoted a culture of antimicrobial stewardship. Together, we can combat the growing threat of AMR and protect the health of our communities. Let’s continue to Educate, Advocate, and Act Now against antimicrobial resistance!
