QUALITY ASSURANCE
The Quality Assurance unit performs the following functions:
- Coordinating all quality management programs across all departments in the facility
- Providing expert advice on issues relating to total quality management (tqm)
- Developing training programs in tqm for staff
- Undertake monitoring/support supervision visits to all departments on tqm
- Undertaking compliance monitoring on key quality and safety standards
- Execution of operational research for tqm in the hospital
- Promoting and monitoring adherence to existing health and safety policies and procedures of the ghs/moh

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY
- Promoting the maintenance of safe systems and safe workplace

INFECTION PREVENTION CONTROL
The infection prevention and control unit performs the following functions:
- Implementation of policies on ipc by educating staff in the facility
- Advising on procurement of equipment and consumables for ipc
- Ensure maintenance of ipc equipment
- Monitor, supervise and evaluate ipc activities
- Liase with the hospital in-service training coordinators on training programmes in ipc
- Dissemination of information on ipc
- Conduct weekly training for all new staff

FEMALE MEDICAL WARD
Female medical ward also known as ward two is a 16 bed capacity female ward that caters for female client with medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, pneumonia, anaemia cerebrocascular accident, etc. Admission to the ward is through the outpatient department and the emergency ward.
The various activities in the ward includes:
- Admission of patients
- Monitoring of vital signs
- Administration of medications
- Suctioning of patients
- Daily review by doctors
- Insertion of catheter
- Nasogatric tube insertion

LAUNDRY & SEWING
The various activities performed in the department includes:
- Laundry services (picking up of laundry, washing, drying, ironing, folding) distributing laundry to the wards.
- Sewing of hospital materials like bedsheets, curtains, theatre gowns, uniforms, etc

- HEALTH INFORMATION/RECORDS DEPARTMENT
Health Information/Records Unit is the first point of call in the service delivery chain. The Unit also doubled as Statistics Unit. We run 24hrs services including weekends. It has three adjoining Units i.e. Maternity Reports, Achimota School Clinic records and Achimota transport Terminal records.
The Unit provide the following Services in the facility;
1. DATA CAPTURE
A. Registration of New and Old Patient using appropriate register/ Health Information Management System (HIMS).
B. Data capture on OPD Morbidity and Mortality
C. Data capture on Facility Bed utilization
D. Data capture on admission and discharges
E. Data capture on returns on deliveries.
2. DATA COLLATION
Collate data from the first to the last day of the month (e.g. 1st to 31st of July).
3. DATA VERIFICATIONA AND VALIDATION
Meet monthly to verify and validate data before transmission.
4. DATA TRANSMISSION
Transmit reporting forms either manual or electronic to the next level within the deadline (facility to District -5th of the ensuing month).
5.DATA ANALYSIS
A. Run simple frequencies for events and cases.
B. Cross tabulate events/cases by months
C. Compare performances with targets
D. Draw graphs to demonstrate performance and trends.
E. Interpret findings and discuss results.
6. REPORT WRITING
A. Reports on special events and activities such as disease outbreak response.
C. Holistic assessment report/analysis.
7. DATA STORAGE
A. Filing and retrieval of patient folders
B. Keeps all registers for life
C. File all tally sheets/ books and store in secured place.
D. File all reporting forms and store in secured place.
8. DATA REQUEST/RELEASE
Ensure all data requests are well documented and filed as evidence for both external and internal request.
9. DATA QUALITY AUDIT (DQA)
A. Select relevant indicators for each audit
B. Perform DQA quarterly
C. Write report, develop action plan to address gaps
D. Implement the action plan
E. Provide feedback to all stakeholders
10. DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION
A. Develop a dissemination plan for the facility
B. Identify and make a list of all stakeholders who will receive the disseminated information
C. Identify appropriate communication channels for dissemination.
D. Implement and document dissemination activities.
E. Monthly and quarterly report writing using findings from data analysis

- Screen clients both at the facility and in the community for TB

- Go for home visit and screen contacts of TB clients
