ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE WEEK – “ACT NOW: PROTECT OUR PRESENT, SECURE OUR FUTURE”

Achimota Hospital observes World Antimicrobial Resistance Week, highlighting the growing threat of resistance to common antibiotics and the need for responsible antimicrobial use.

Key activities included:

  • Educational talks on antimicrobial stewardship for clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Client engagement sessions in outpatient and inpatient areas on proper antibiotic use.
  • Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) demonstrations, focusing on hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, and rational prescribing.
  • Distribution of information materials promoting safe practices.
  • The week was climaxed with a Durbar at Abofu Presby School.

The celebration reinforced the message that combating AMR requires collective action from healthcare workers, patients, and the community.
